Marriage is a socially or ritually recognized union or legal contract between spouses that establishes rights and obligations between them. Under Philippine law, marriage is defined as an inviolable social institution. In the 1987 Philippine Constitution, it is written that marriage is the foundation of the family and shall be protected by the State. However, in real life, some marriage last forever and some marriages were cut short for several reasons. There are times that the parties involved end up in a long arduous process of divorce, annulment or legal separation battle in court. Here is my list of the top Filipina celebrity break-ups.

Vilma Santos commonly known as Ate Vi is a Filipino actress and politician. She is known as the Star for all Seasons for her various roles in different genres of her movies and holds the titles of Grand Slam Queen and as the longest reigning box office queen of Philippine cinema. She is also a politician, currently serving as Governor of Batangas and once as mayor of Lipa City.





 
3. Nora Aunor and Christopher De Leon (married in 1975)
Nora Aunor is a critically acclaimed Filipina actress, recording artist, and film producer. She has also appeared in several stage plays, television shows, and concerts. She is known as Philippine cinema's Superstar. She started her career in the Philippine entertainment industry as a singer after she won an amateur singing contest.

Ruffa Gutierrez is a Filipina model, beauty queen and actress. She was the 1992 Look of the Year-Philippines, Binibining Pilipinas World 1993 and second runner-up to Miss World 1993. She began acting as a teen in the 1980s, under BMG Films. She became part of German Moreno's That's Entertainment in the early 1990s before becoming a beauty queen in 1993.





 
6. Michelle Van Eimeren and Ogie Alcasid (married in 1996)
Michelle van Eimeren (born 15 March 1972) is a beauty queen from Brisbane, Australia. She represented Australia for the 1994 Miss Universe pageant, which was held in Manila. She placed 11th overall. After her Miss Universe stint, she starred in numerous Filipino movies. She married Filipino actor/singer Ogie Alcasid in 1996 and had two children with him. She also wrote a children's book called, "Butterfly." She is also a commercial model and product endorser.





7. Ai-ai Delas Alas and Jed Salang (married in 2013)

Ai-Ai de las Alas, is a Filipino actress of film and television, dubbed as the "Philippine Queen of Comedy" and "Comedy Concert Queen". She first gained nationwide recognition for her movie Ang Tanging Ina which became a blockbuster hit. Due to the movie's popularity, it received a TV series spin-off with her again taking the lead role. The movie eventually spawned two sequels; "Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat" and "Ang Tanging Ina Mo (Last na 'To!)".
