Amalia Fuentes
(born August 27, 1940) is a Filipino actress, and former super star of
Philippine cinema. She was once dubbed the Elizabeth Taylor of the Philippines.
She is the aunt of actors Aga Muhlach and Nino Muhlach. She is the mother of
actress Liezl Martinez. She is the first Filipina Lux Soap model. Sampaguita
Pictures launched her into full stardom in the 1956 film Movie Fan.
Meanwhile, she suffered stroke last month while she was on a
vacation in South Korea. Her grandchildren, Alyanna Alfonso and Alissa Martinez
confirmed. She was immediately rushed to a hospital in Seoul, Korea where she
was placed in an intensive care unit. After spending almost three weeks in the
hospital, the doctors finally allowed her to go back to the Philippines.
