There are three rings of love namely: the engagement ring, the wedding ring and the suffering. Kidding aside, this year has been a year of engagement in local showbiz. Many of our Pinay celebrities are ready to settle down. Here is my list of the most colorful Filipina celebrity engagements of this year.
1. Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes
Marian Rivera was born in Madrid, Spain to Francisco Javier Gracia Alonso, a Spaniard and Amalia Rivera, a Filipino from Cavite, Philippines. After her parents separated 2 years after her birth, her mother brought her to the Philippines where she grew up most of her life.
2. Heart Evangelista and Chiz Escudero
Heart Evangelista was first discovered by a commercial agent while at a mall with her sister. She signed up with the Star Magic agency, formerly known as Talent Center, and was part of Star Circle Batch 9. She was paired with John Prats on the show G-Mik and on Trip, Ang Tanging Ina, My First Romance and Berks.
3. Isabel Oli and John Pratts
Isabel Oli is the youngest of seven children of Filipino father of Chinese descent and a Filipina-Spanish mother. She graduated from the University of San Jose - Recoletos in Cebu with the degree of Information Technology. She started to get the attention of the viewers when she landed a role in the Max's of Manila restaurant commercial with multi-awarded actor Piolo Pascual.
4. Bianca Gonzales and JC Intal
Bianca Gonzalez first hosted GameChannel Extreme with Iya Villania, Chase Tinio and Aaron Mempin. Her first ever on-cam career in ABS-CBN network however was for the now defunct show, Review Night which she hosted with Ryan Agoncillo in Cinema One. For a little less than a year, she got her Studio 23 stint as a tadjock for Wazzup Wazzup. She also co-hosted MTV U-Break.
5. Saab Magalona and Jim Bacarro
Maria Isabella Simone Arroyo Magalona or known as Saab Magalona (born November 26, 1988 in Manila, Philippines) is a Filipina actress who started in the TV5 youth-oriented drama series Lipgloss. She is the daughter of Francis Magalona and sister of Maxene Magalona, Frank Magalona and Elmo Magalona.
6. Yeng Constantino and Victor Asuncion
Josephine "Yeng" Eusebio Constantino is the youngest of five siblings in the Constantino family. Her parents are Joselito Constantino and Susan Constantino and her siblings are Donna, Jocelyn, Nano and Cookie. She is the 4th degree cousin of Robi Domingo, 2nd Runner Up of Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus. She is also, niece of Pasig City Mayor Bobby Eusebio.
7. Neri Naig and Chito Miranda
Neri Naig joined Star Circle Quest but was not able to bag the title. After an absence of several years, she is now staging a career comeback with the help of her manager, Boy Abunda. Recently, she has been featured in shows like SCQ Reload: OK Ako!, Nasaan Ka Man, Ang Panday, Sana Maulit Muli, Ysabella and a vampire in Imortal.
8. Tricia Centenera and Gab Valenciano
Tricia Centenera was raised from Australia. She is a blogger, a host and a model. She is scheduled to be married to Gab Valenciano the son of Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano in February of next year.
9. Denise Laurel and Sol Mercado
Denise Laurel was discovered by Star Magic's big boss Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) in a play of Repertory Philippines. Luckily, she was given a break to be part of Ang TV 2, then she played as Ina Raymundo's daughter in Pangako Sa ‘Yo. She then made a name in Singapore when she was fortunate to be part of MTV Asia's Rouge, which was shown all over Asia.
10. Cesca Litton and Tyke Kalaw
She is a Showbiz Inside Report Online host, France 24 correspondent, adventure seeker, theater inamorata, sports addict and animal lover. After her stint as court side reporter of NCAA, she became a model, a sportscaster and a host.
