Top 5 Most Bankable Female Celebrities in the 2014 Philippine Box Office

There are many bankable actresses in Philippine showbiz. However, movie producers are afraid to risk their money producing as many films possible. Because of piracy issues in the Philippines, not many of our homegrown producers have decided to make a movie. In fact, there are more Hollywood movies shown in Philippine theaters than Filipino movies. Here is my list of the top female celebrities in the 2014 Philippine Box Office.


1. Toni Gonzaga (Starting Over Again; P491M)
 
 
 
        Toni Gonzaga is a resident of Taytay, Rizal and the eldest daughter of Carlito and Crisanta Gonzaga, who also acts as her talent managers. Her sister is Catherine Gonzaga, also known as Alex Gonzaga, who is also an actress and television host. In Taytay, she was an elected Barangay Kagawad for one term and a Sunday school teacher in Taytay United Methodist Church. She studied Mass Communication at the Dominican College in San Juan, Rizal for two years. Later, she transferred to the Asian Institute for Distance Education (AIDE) and shifted her course to AB English, which she wasn't able to finish due to her busy showbiz schedule. She is currently enrolled at the University of the Philippines Open University taking up her Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Studies.




2. Kim Chiu (Bride for Rent; P326M)





       Kim Chiu enjoys traveling, extreme sports, shopping, and recreational activities like equestrianism. The fourth child of five siblings, she is Chinese-Filipino. She frequently moved residencies as a child, raised mainly in the Philippine Visayas; locating in Tacloban, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos City, Mindoro and back to Cebu City. Being multilingual, she can speak Cebuano, Tagalog, English, with some proficiency in Waray, Mandarin Chinese and Hokkien. Due to her family situation and her mother's abandonment when she was nine years old, she mostly grew up with her paternal grandmother and siblings. She attended Cebu Cherish School, joined various extracurricular activities and worked as a cashier in her aunt's boutique.





3. Sarah Geronimo (Maybe this Time; P134M)
 
 
 
        Sarah Geronimo, born Sarah Asher Tua Geronimo; July 25, 1988) is a Filipino singer and actress. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, Manila, she attained popularity after winning the Star for a Night singing competition on television in 2003. She substantiated the fame with the release of her first album in the same year titled Popstar: A Dream Come True, when it became the best-selling debut album of all-time in the country. Following the success of the record, she staged her first major solo concert at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. At the age of 17, the singer became the youngest solo artist to have filled the well-renowned coliseum.






4. Solenn Heussaff (Da Possessed; P122M)
 
 
 
        Solenn Heusaff became one of the fan favorites in the reality show. She was also one of the most controversial castaways and even became one of the trending topics on Facebook and other social networking sites during the airing of the show. She ended up being one of the top three finalists alongside Ervic Vijandre and Akihiro Sato. The latter was declared the winner. Before she entered showbiz, she was an endorser of several products in and outside the country. She is currently endorsing Vitress Hair Solutions, Asian Secrets, Argentina, Century Tuna, Greenwich Pasta and Robinsons Land Corporation.

        Nadine Alexis Paguia Lustre (born October 31, 1993 in Quezon City), better known as Nadine Lustre, is a Filipina actress, TV host and singer. She is best known for her role as Eya Rodriguez in the film adaptation of Diary ng Panget and as Georgina Evangelista in the television remake of the Bagets film series. She was a member and oftentimes lead vocalist of the all-female group called Pop Girls. Eventually, she left the group and became a solo singer.
